The Story

God's grace crushes our pride because it tells us we cannot save ourselves. We have no goodness worthy of boasting before God, and everything we have is his gift. But grace does not remove confidence. It gives deeper confidence because our hope rests not on our ability, but on the powerful and faithful God. Jesus Christ humbled himself to the cross to save proud people like us. Standing before the cross, we have no place to boast in ourselves, but every reason to trust our Savior. Let grace lower your pride and lift your eyes to God. Humility does not mean thinking God can do nothing through us. It means knowing that when he works, all things are possible for his glory. Prayer Glorious Father, I praise you because you oppose pride and give grace to the humble. Forgive me for boasting in myself or seeking confidence in my ability more than in you. Thank you for Jesus Christ, who humbled himself to save me. Holy Spirit, crush my pride and give me confidence in grace. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
