The Story

True faith does not force us to say everything is fine when our hearts know it hurts. Scripture does not teach us to smile in order to hide reality or use religious words to escape pain. But true faith also does not let heavy realities destroy hope. We can admit that the world is broken, our hearts are weak, and some circumstances are deeply hard, while still holding to the good God. Jesus Christ entered the dark reality of this world. He did not deny sin, suffering, or death. He bore them at the cross and rose so that we could have hope without lying to ourselves. Be honest with God about life, and honest with your heart about hope in Christ. You do not need to pretend to be strong. God's grace is enough for those who admit they are weak. Prayer Truthful Father, I praise you because you give faith that does not escape reality and does not despair before pain. Forgive me for pretending to be strong or letting suffering make me forget your grace. Thank you for Jesus Christ, who bore the darkness of sin and death. Holy Spirit, make me honest and hopeful today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
