The Story

We often try to prove ourselves, even though no one can make himself good enough for God. This effort makes some proud and others afraid. The gospel declares something different. We are not called to work so that God will accept us. We are called to trust Christ, who completed that work on our behalf. Jesus lived the life we could not live, obeyed perfectly, and bore the punishment we deserved. In him, the Father receives us, not because our record is clean, but because Christ's righteousness is ours. Stop running to prove your worth. Rest in Christ. This rest does not make us lazy; it makes us serve with gratitude, because we work from acceptance, not for acceptance. Prayer Gracious Father, I praise you because you receive your children in Christ, not according to their works. Forgive me for trying to prove my worth and serving from fear more than gratitude. Thank you for Jesus Christ, who completed the work of salvation for me. Holy Spirit, help me rest in grace and obey with thankfulness. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
