The Story

Sometimes we treat the gospel as something for the beginning and the end. Jesus forgave our past, and we hope to be with him in the future. But we forget that the gospel changes today. The gospel is not a door we walk through and leave behind. It is the window through which we see everything: ourselves, work, family, suffering, success, and failure. Christ did not merely erase old guilt. He gives new life now. He is Lord over our words, money, responses to difficult people, and thoughts no one else sees. Do not separate the gospel from ordinary life. When fear rises, return to Christ. When pride rises, return to the cross. Ask the Spirit to make the gospel today's light. Prayer Saving Father, I praise you because the gospel of Christ changes not only my past and future, but my today. Forgive me for separating faith from ordinary life and relying on myself in small things. Thank you for Jesus Christ, who is my life. Holy Spirit, help me see everything through the gospel. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
