The Story

Every day our hearts are pulled between two kingdoms. God's kingdom calls us to love, worship, and obey him. Our little kingdom whispers that life will be good if we can remain at the center. This little kingdom looks attractive because it promises control, approval, and comfort. But what it actually gives is fear, discontent, and endless self-protection. Christ did not come to make our little kingdoms successful. He came to rescue us from them. The cross announces that we are not kings; God is King, and life under him is true freedom. Beware the voice that says, 'It is enough if I get my way.' The Spirit works relentlessly to help us leave our little thrones and worship Christ with joy. Prayer Father and King, I praise you because your kingdom is full of glory and grace. Forgive me for loving my little kingdom and wanting everything to revolve around my desires. Thank you for Jesus Christ, who rescued me from being my own king. Holy Spirit, teach me to live under Christ. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
