The Story

Disobedience often begins quietly. We do not announce that we are rebelling against God. We simply begin to think that this matter is not so serious, or that this time may be an exception. This is the old lie from Eden: real life can be found outside the boundaries God has set. But God's commands are not prison walls. They are the path of life from the God who truly knows and loves us. Our hearts are still easily deceived. Sometimes we do not want to love what God calls good. Sometimes what God calls dangerous appears desirable to us. The problem is not God's Word, but our hearts. Jesus Christ obeyed the Father perfectly in our place and bore the penalty for our disobedience at the cross. When we return to him, the Spirit teaches us that God's way is better, even when our hearts do not feel it. Prayer Wise Father, I praise you because your Word gives life and your way is always good. Forgive me for thinking I know better than you and for treating some sins as if they were not dangerous. Thank you for Jesus Christ, who obeyed in my place. Holy Spirit, make me love your Word and walk in the path of life. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
