The Story

The Bible never asks us to pretend that life is painless. In a world broken by sin, there is weariness, grief, uncertainty, and loss. True faith does not close its eyes to these realities. When trouble comes, we may feel alone. Even people who love us cannot fully understand or fully help us. Some lack tenderness, and even the tenderest people cannot remove the burden itself. But God has been the dwelling place of his people in every generation. He is not a temporary helper who comes and goes. From everlasting to everlasting, he is God, and when everything shakes, he remains steady. Do not quickly conclude that God is far away on difficult days. Christ came near, even to the cross, to bring us back into the Father's arms. The Spirit comforts us by making us know that God is still with us. Prayer Eternal Father, I praise you because you are the steady dwelling place of your children in every season. Forgive me for drawing conclusions from my feelings and forgetting your faithfulness. Thank you for Jesus Christ, who came near to sinners and sufferers. Holy Spirit, help me rest in God even on hard days. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
