The Story

Every heart lives by hope. We hope for peace at home, enough strength for the day, relief from anxiety, and a future that feels secure. The question is not whether we hope, but where we place that hope. When we ask created things to carry the full weight of our hearts, disappointment follows. Good gifts can comfort us for a time, but they cannot give the settled security that belongs to God alone. The gospel calls us back to God, not through positive thinking, but through Christ. Jesus died and rose again so that wandering hearts could return to the Father and rest in him. So ask your heart honestly today: am I hoping in God, or am I asking God to protect the things I want to hold? The Spirit teaches us to trust the Father who never forgets, never fails, and never abandons his children. Prayer Faithful Father, I praise you because you are the sure hope of your children. You do not change with my circumstances, and your promises never fail. Forgive me for placing my heart in things that cannot hold it, and for becoming restless when they do not go my way. Thank you for Jesus Christ, who opened the way for me to rest again in you. Holy Spirit, teach me today to hope in God. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
