The Grace Reveals Our Sinfulness to Us

Sin blinds our spiritual eyes. We often think of ourselves as being better and more righteous than we actually are, so we see the sins of others more clearly than our own sins. Like the church in Laodicea, we may think we are rich and have everything we need, but in the sight of God, our true condition may be poor, blind, and naked. Sin deceives us, and we often cooperate with that deception without realizing it. The true spiritual sight does not make us judge others more, but makes us sorrowful over our own sins and repent. If we are more awakened to the sins of others than to our own, that is a significant warning sign. So we must ask for a rebuke full of grace from the Holy Spirit. When He opens our eyes, we will not be pushed into despair, but will be brought back to Jesus Christ through repentance and faith. Father, our Lord, I praise you because you have opened my eyes to see my own sin through the Holy Spirit. Please forgive me when I trust in my own righteousness and am more concerned with the sins of others than my own. We thank Jesus Christ, who redeems sinners by His grace. May the Holy Spirit convict and awaken us to repent of our own sins, turn to Him sincerely, and come to Christ in prayer with hope in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
