The Story

The terrifying deception of sin is that when we commit sin, sin often does not appear to be sin. It often makes itself appear small, ordinary, and reasonable, so we may overlook its ugliness and destructive power. The Bible does not hide the severity of sin and wickedness. Sin destroys humanity, corrupts the life that God has given, and separates us from God. Sin is not a game and is not a small matter. But the Bible does not only talk about the fear of sin, no matter how great it is, and how powerful it may seem. The grace of salvation of Jesus Christ is greater. We should hate sin seriously, but not despair like a defeated person. Christ has conquered sin and death, so we should not play with sin, but we also should not be afraid that sin has power over our Savior. In His grace, we have true hope. Father, holy and pure, I pray that you will help me. I praise you because you have revealed to me the severity of sin and have delivered me from sin in Christ. Please forgive me when I view sin as a small thing and excuse my own desires. Thank God for Jesus Christ, the One who has conquered sin and death. May the Holy Spirit give us a heart that hates sin, and at the same time, a firm faith in the goodness of God, praying in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
