The Story

This world is full of good things that God has given us. Food, homes, nature, possessions, relationships, and success are all gifts from God who is good. The problem is not with these gifts, but with our hearts. We often love the gifts more than the Giver of those gifts. When life is comfortable and abundant, we may forget God and try to find satisfaction, security, and meaning in the things He has created. This is idolatrous worship that has gone astray. God did not give the beauty of this world to replace Him, but to lead our hearts to God, the source of all life and goodness. In Jesus Christ, grace opens our eyes again, so we do not stop at the minor glory of created things, but learn to see the majesty of God, the only One who can truly satisfy our hearts. Our Father, full of glory, I praise you, because you have created all things and given me many good things. Please forgive me when I love the gift more than you, and seek satisfaction from the things you have created instead of God. I thank Jesus Christ, who has led me back to true worship. May the Holy Spirit guard my heart, using the good things of this world with gratitude, and may they lead me to praise Him even more. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
